FAQ

Why do I need an appointment to register my child?
Appointments allow our staff time to meet with you and to answer any questions you may have. You will also meet with our nurse to verify student is in compliance with immunization requirements. Your child's assistant principal will go over rules and expectations and a member of our staff will assist you with online registration. The last step will be meeting with your child's counselor to discuss class schedule.

How long will the registration process take?

This depends on your child and their needs. We recommend that you have all forms complete ahead of your appointment. You can  pick up the registraiton packet or print it from our Forms Tab to expedite the intake process.  We ask that you allow up to an hour and a half to complete all steps of the registration process.

My student was a previous Pioneer HS student, why do I need to schedule a new student appointment?
There are a few forms that will need to be completed to update our records. You will also meet with the counseling department to review class schedule. Again, having an appointment gives our staff time to meet with you.

Where can my child pick up a VOE form for driving?
The student may sign up in the front office for a VOE. The turn around time is 2 days for this form to be ready. Please be advised that the student must be in compliance with attendance to qualify for a VOE. If the student has lost credit, he or she will need to clear any attendance issues before a VOE is issued.

Why am I required to go in person to excuse my child's absence before or after a holiday?
Please read the attendance chapter in the Student/Parent Handbook for rules set forth by our school board.

Where can my child sign up for Saturday School?
Sign up for Saturday School is in the Counseling Office.

What is required to excuse an absence due to a college visit?
The student will need to pick up a college visit form from the Go Center. That form will need to be completed and an excuse from the college will need to be attached along with a written note from the parent.

Why has my child lost credit due to attendance if all the absences are excused.
This is a very common question. Student's are required to be in attendance 90 percent of the days the class is offered. In order to meet the 90 percent criteria students are allowed 4 excused or unexcused absences per semester. If the student exceeds the 4 absences and if the absences are excused, he or she may attend Saturday School to regain credit for the class or classes.
