Try-out Requirements

Dear Pioneer Volleyball Players,

I am excited about the new season and looking forward to another great year for Pioneer Volleyball. The strength test, skills test and your performance in team training will assist your coaches in determining the team you make.

On the first day of try-outs, we will start with the mile run and strength test. If you do not make the time limit for the mile run, you will be required to do it again before each practice, until you make it- if you make a team.  All athletes are expected to be physically fit and are competing for spots on each team.  Please remember this when preparing yourself over the summer. There is Summer Strength and Conditioning from 8:30-10:30 am Monday–Thursday and the Open Gym schedule for June and July has been posted online.

 Expectations for the mile run and strength test include:

Mile Run: under 8 minutes incoming freshman, 7:45 returners, 7:30 Varsity

Vertical- 16-18 incoming freshman, 18-20 returners, 20-24 Varsity

Consecutive Push-Ups-Goal: 30+

Sit-Ups- 1 min- Goal: 40+

1 minute shuttle run: Volleyball endline to mid-court, each line counts as one. 20 incoming freshman, 22 returners, 24 Varsity

Other Requirements:

Each player will need to have all physicals turned in prior to tryouts. You may turn your physical in with Aaron Moss or Rob Montoya. If you do not have your paperwork on file, you will not be able to tryout. Please make sure that you have filled out the forms completely through Skyward and have the paperwork from your doctor. Please be early to tryouts and wear a grey t-shirt with black tights. Please bring cover shorts to do your physical testing and running/court shoes. Knee pads, ankle braces and a water bottle are optional.

1-4:00 p.m. Skill Testing

August 2nd

8-10:30 a.m. Team Skills

1 p.m Post Teams

2-4:00 p.m. Team Practice
