Course Overview:

Welcome to Geometry! This handout will serve as a guideline for what I expect of you throughout the year. Please keep this for the entire year at the front of your binder. Furthermore, this course is designed to help you develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills through the study of geometric concepts. We will explore topics such as angles, triangles, circles, polygons, and three-dimensional figures, focusing on both theoretical and practical applications. 

Course Objectives:

By the end of this course, students will be able to: 

- Understand and apply geometric definitions, theorems, and postulates. 

- Solve problems involving angles, triangles, circles, and polygons. 

- Surface Area and Volume 

- Develop logical reasoning through proofs and problem-solving. 

- Use coordinate geometry to solve problems involving distance, midpoints, and slopes. - Apply geometric concepts to real-world situations. 

Daily Materials:

Students are required to bring the following materials to class every day: 

Spiral Notebook (for notes and scratch paper) 

Graph Paper (notebook) 

Sharpened pencil(s) 

Protractor (optional) 

Ruler (optional) 

Calculator (Ti-Nspire) 

Binder (3-ring hardback 1-1/2” binder) 

Classroom Expectations:

- Arrive on time and be prepared with all necessary materials. 

- Show respect to your classmates, teacher, and the classroom environment. - Participate actively in class discussions and activities. 

- Complete all assignments on time. 

- Follow all school policies as outlined in the student handbook.

Online log-in information:

To access the online textbook from a desktop or laptop, go to savvasrealize.com and log in. To view the Google Classroom, where notes, projects, and assignments are posted, and to receive class reminders and updates.

Attendance Policy:

Regular attendance is crucial to success in this course. Please notify me in advance if you know you will be absent. It is the student's responsibility to catch up on any missed work. 

Quizzes and Tests:

ALL QUIZZES AND TESTS MUST BE DONE IN PENCIL

Tests and Quizzes will NOT be given back to you to keep. They will be returned during class for clarification. If more time is needed to look over a test, we can meet during my tutoring times to discuss. 

Binder:

At the front of your binder you must have the COURSE SYLLABUS, ASSIGNMENTS, and BINDER DUE DATE SHEET. (in this order) 

Binder will have three sections, using dividers. These sections are NOTES, HOMEWORK, and MISCELLANEOUS. 

Grading Policy:

MAJOR ASSIGNMENTS (Exams, tests, projects, reports) 60 % 

MINOR ASSIGNMENTS (quizzes, homework, classwork, participation) 40 % Retest Policy:

1. Participate: Engage actively in class discussions and activities. 

2. Take Notes: Consistently take notes. 

3. Attendance: Maintain good attendance and catch up on missed work. 4. Show Interest: Demonstrate a genuine interest in the subject. 

5. Complete Homework: Submit all homework on time and with effort. 

**If you meet these criteria, please contact me to discuss scheduling a retest. Retests are granted at the teacher’s discretion to support learning and improvement**

- LATENESS IS UNACCEPTABLE 

- DISRESPECTING BEHAVIOR IS UNACCEPTABLE 

- TARDINESS IS UNACCEPTABLE 

- UNPREPAREDNESS IS UNACCEPTABLE. 

- CHEATING IS UNACCEPTABLE
