Algebra II & Geometry

 

This handout will serve as a guideline for what I expect of you throughout the year.  Please keep this for the entire year at the front of your binder.

TUTORING SCHEDULE:  Tuesday & Thursday @ 4:00 – 5:00

 

DAILY SUPPLIES:  You must bring the following items to class EVERYDAY:

1.  3–ring hardback 1-1/2” binder

2.  notebook paper

3.  pencil(s)
4.  Practice Workbook

There is also an app from the Apple App and the Google Play Store for your mobile device. Remember that you can only view the book pages with these apps, but to complete assignments and fully utilize the online publisher resources, you must access the book through a Web Browser.

To visit the online Google Classroom where notes, projects and assignments are usually posted and to get class Reminders and updates, use the following codes:

Google Classroom Code: (Depends on your Class)    Remind Code: (Depends on your Class).

                                    You DO NOT need to download the Remind app to get the secure messages.

 

Online Component of the Course:

Ø  We are following the same Student Code of Conduct as if we were meeting in person.

Ø  Students are expected to log into Google Classroom to participate in the class discussion.

Ø  There are notes available on Google Classroom for students to follow when class is being conducted synchronously (Live via Google Meets).

Ø  (1)Log into Google Classroom and view/download class lesson notes/assignment for that day. (2)Follow the Google Meets link found on the top banner on the stream section of the Google Classroom. (3)Prepare to begin lesson after teacher calls attendance (verbally or by asking you to fill out the Google Attendance Form). (4)Follow along with teacher as examples are given and ask for clarification, if needed, during the first 30-45 minutes of the block. (5)The rest of the block period will be available for independent work and questions as the teacher will remain available in Google Meets.

Ø  If you cannot meet at the specified time, look for Recorded Lesson for that day to help with assignment.

Ø  Make sure you keep up with deadlines and turn in material/assignments when due.

Ø  Please do not hesitate to ask question if you have any trouble with any part of the online part.

 

DAILY NOTES:

Ø  Notes are taken on a DAILY BASIS and will be placed in your binder’s NOTES section.

Ø  The notes obtained on Google Classroom can be printed and written on or you may write on them digitally. You are advised to keep these in your binder and ready to be uploaded, if teacher asks.

 

ASSIGNMENTS:

Ø  You will place your paper assignments in the assignments HOMEWORK section of your binder and/or submit your electronic assignments online.  You must box in you answers.  Problems must be work out completely for credit, answers alone will not be accepted. For online assignments, you should have work that correlates to that assignment and place that in your HOMEWORK as reference and to study for assessments. Also, this is should be ready to be uploaded, if teacher asks.

Ø  Assignments are usually given as class work or homework and will be DUE before class the next day.

Ø  If you are absent, you must (1)ask a classmate for the assignment or notes, (2)look at the classroom calendar, (3)check your Remind message or (4)ask during tutoring times to get it and have it complete the day after you get back. You can also (5)check on Google Classroom to see if it’s posted.

                                                                  You can also (6)check on Skyward, under assignment details.

QUIZZES AND TESTS:

Ø  ALL QUIZZES AND TESTS MUST BE DONE IN PENCIL

Ø  * TESTS and QUIZZES will NOT be given back to you to keep*.  They will be returned in class for clarification. If more time is needed to look over test, we can meet during my tutoring times to discuss.

 

BINDERS:

Ø  You will keep a binder for this class.  This binder will be neatly organized and should be with you every single day you attend class. During the online part of course, use a binder to keep yourself organized.

Ø  At the front of your binder you must have the COURSE SYLLABUS (this paper), THE CALENDAR OF ASSIGNMENTS, and BINDER DUEDATE SHEET. (IN THAT ORDER)

Ø  The binder will be separated into three sections, using dividers.  These sections are NOTES, HOMEWORK, and MISCELLANEOUS.

 

GRADING POLICY:

Ø  Your grade will be determined by your performance in the following areas. Each of these areas is a percentage of your final grade and the scale is as follows.

 

MAJOR ASSIGNMENTS                     (Exams, tests, projects, reports)                                            60 %

MINOR ASSIGNMENTS                   (quizzes, homework, classwork, participation)                             40 %

 

RETEST POLICY:  (WHAT YOU MUST DO TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR A RETEST)

Ø  YOU MUST HAVE THE NOTES/ASSIGNMENT COMPLETED FOR THAT SECTION BEFORE YOU TAKE RETEST.

Ø  YOU MUST COME FOR TUTORING AFTER SCORING BELOW 75 ON A QUIZ FOR CLARIFICATION.

Ø  YOU MUST HAVE GOOD CLASS PARTICIPATION AND GOOD CITIZENSHIP.

Ø  YOUR SCORE FOR THE RETEST WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE ABOVE CRITERIA.

                              

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Ø  LATENESS IS UNACCEPTABLE

Ø  DISRESPECTING BEHAVIROR IS UNACCEPTABLE

Ø  TARDINESS IS UNACCEPTABLE

Ø  UNPREPAREDNESS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

Ø  CHEATING IS UNACCEPTABLE
